Phase 1: Inauguration of Namal College
Namal college was initially built to offer short certificate courses and diplomas with a view to providing technical education to the underprivileged youth of the District of Mianwali. The current structure that stands on a high pedestal across the scenic Namal Lake took shape in 2008 and it started with a humble beginning of offering technical diplomas to students with a view to make them employable for self sustenance. However, it turned out to be just a prelude to a much greater cause….establishing the largest Knowledge City of Pakistan.
Phase 2: Namal University As Namal Knowledge City
The Vision 2020 sets a milestone of taking Namal College to its eventual goal of setting up six different schools that will constitute Knowledge City. Namal Education Foundation has acquired a land area of about 1000 acres that stretches all along the Salt Range towards South on the western side of Namal Lake.
A comprehensive plan of establishing six academic buildings, student hostels, faculty apartments, the central library, the mosque, an enterprise centre and commercial areas has been finalized. The Knowledge City is designed to house School of Science and Engineering,School of Medicine, School of Business, School of Humanities, School of Agriculture and Science & a Technology Park. The construction has already started and Mr. Imran Khan, Chairman Namal Education Foundation, has inaugurated the erection of business school in December 2015.
